Habitat: Occurs primarily in forests, seems to be restricted to the Pacific Coast, and is more common in California than it is in the PNW.

Conservation Status: Not of concern

Description:
Identification Notes:

It is most likely to be confused with the edible A. subrutilescens, which, although similarly colored, is less solid and has a mild odor, shaggy stipe, and a much less substantial ring. A. hondensis is named for a location in California, La Honda, not for the Japanese automobile.
